Bistro Guillaume takes pride in its paddock to plate philosophy. Each dish is crafted using the freshest local ingredients from Victoria and the menu changes with the seasons.

Our visit to Bistro Guillaume was in the midst of a scorching summer, we began our experience with freshly shucked oysters, perfectly accompanied by a tangy mignonette dressing; the perfect way to whet the palate.

Exploring the cold and raw entrée section, we couldn't resist trying their steak tartare, elegantly served with potato crisps. The flavours were well balanced and the quality of the beef was on full display.

Snails cooked in garlic butter served on silver plate with toasted sourdough bread. A sprinkle of parsley for garnish.

Staying true to classic French dishes, we indulged in the escargot bathed in garlic herbed butter. The heavenly butter sauce had us mopping it up with crusty baguette slices, not unlike children who had been starved and deprived.

A small bowl of french onion soup with cheese crouton floating on top, garnished with chopped chives, on a white plate.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the French Onion Soup with Gruyere Sourdough.

The soup was a masterpiece: perfectly caramelised onions, a rich and sweet broth, topped with a Gruyere crouton. We ordered one to share and they thoughtful presented us with mini individual bowls. This dish is a must-try.
